The Adult Survivorship Program aims to dispel the myth that survivorship care is only for people who are 100% cancer-free. This program is available to all Dana-Farber patients, including those who are receiving treatment. Their mission is to improve the health and quality of life for those living through and beyond a cancer diagnosis.
To be introduced to the program, you can make an appointment with a Nurse Practitioner who will review your medical records, current health status, and general quality of life. You will then be provided with a comprehensive summary of recommendations that serve as a guide for you and your primary care physician and outlines potential late effects of cancer. This information also includes any other helpful medical information related to your past treatment and future care.
The ten survivorship specialties (see below) help to provide patients with clinical care, education, counseling, and innovative patient-centered research to meet each patient’s individual survivorship needs. As survivorship is not one size fits all, a personalized approach is taken for cancer surveillance, prevention, management of late and long-term effects, behavior modification, and coordination of care. |
