Radiation works by creating breaks within the DNA of cancer cells, preventing them from growing and dividing, and often causing them to die. But unlike other forms of therapy, radiation cannot be seen, felt, or heard during treatment, often making it difficult for patients to understand. Learn more about radiation therapy, including the course of treatment and safety, from our Department of Radiation Oncology in the presentation below.

The American Society of Clinical Oncology also has a tip sheet about what to expect during radiation therapy, possible side effects, and what questions to ask your oncologist.
