More Than Just Medical Treatment

Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) brings unique challenges—and connecting with others who truly “get it” can help ease the load, lift your spirits, and remind you that you’re not facing this alone. Beyond your medical team, there’s a wide range of support available from Dana-Farber to make life with MBC more manageable, no matter your stage or phase.

Dana-Farber and EMBRACE

EMBRACing Young and Strong is a community created with Dana-Farber’s EMBRACE (Ending Metastatic Breast Cancer for Everyone) Program to support the unique needs of young adults living with MBC. Since its launch in May 2020, it has combined the expertise of both programs—guided by young patient leaders—to provide tailored education, connection, and peer support.

EMBRACing Young and Strong Socials

Twice-Monthly, join a Zoom Gathering. This safe, supportive space lets you connect with others diagnosed as a young adult and living with MBC. Open for sharing, listening, or simply being present.

MBC Support Groups

It’s not always easy to talk about the realities of MBC with friends or family. These groups provide a space where nothing needs to be explained; you’ll be among people who understand. Dana-Farber hosts two monthly support groups specifically for people living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Each group is co-facilitated by a psychiatrist and a social worker, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Participants range from those newly diagnosed to people who have been living with MBC for years.

Many attendees describe these groups as a source of powerful comfort, offering connection, validation, and the chance to process both the emotional and practical challenges of MBC alongside others who truly “get it.”
